Youth learn about dog ownership and safety

The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is hosting an educational camp this week for local children.

Among topics discussed are responsible ownership, bite prevention and safety around strange dogs. Campers have daily visits from area veterinarians and presentations from working dogs within the community, like seeing eye dogs, canine police and search dogs.  Dog trainers are on hand daily to give kids tips to training their own family pets, according to a press release from the BARL.
