Former Brookhaven school employee arrested for grand larceny | Crime
BROOKHAVEN, MS (WLBT) - A former maintenance employee with the Brookhaven School District was arrested Wednesday and charged with grand larceny.
Twenty-year-old Lavon D. Smith of Brookhaven is accused of stealing metal filing cabinets, desks and chairs that belonged to the school district, according to State Auditor Stacey Pickering.
Pickering said Smith sold the stolen items to a local salvage yard on May 4.
Smith was fired following the incident.
Smith was booked in the Lincoln County Jail and bond was set at $1,500.
The Brookhaven Police Department has also filed unrelated charges against Smith, according to Pickering.
