Wesson man found not guilty on molestation charges

A Wesson man has been found not guilty on child molestation charges in Lincoln County.

Thirty-six-year-old Jason Case was charged with two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes, sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in May.

A jury found Case not guilty Wednesday.

Business owner foils robbery attempt

LINCOLN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Deputies in Lincoln County are searching for two suspects after a business owner foiled an attempted robbery Thursday.

Jan Adams says her son-in-law Phillip Montgomery was in his automotive shop when two men came in and tried to rob him.

Sheriff Steve Rushing says the business owner got his gun and fired shots as the men took off into nearby woods.

The two suspects were last seen in the area of Zetus Road and Jackson Liberty Drive Thursday afternoon.

Escaped inmate caught in Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN, MS (WLBT) - Escaped Hinds County inmate James Hopkins, 34, was captured in Brookhaven, Thursday morning, according to officials with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Hopkins escaped from the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond on Monday and was apprehended shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday.

Hopkins has been transported to the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl and will face multiple charges, including escape.

Man arrested in fatal Brookhaven shooting

BROOKHAVEN, MS (WLBT) - Brookhaven police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting Wednesday.

Police chief Pap Henderson said 25-year-old Marvin Brown Jr., was shot and killed at 622 West Congress St.

Kimbley Crimiel, 35, of Brookhaven has been charged with murder in the incident.

Henderson said the shooting was the result of an altercation. The investigation is ongoing.

Crimiel was arraigned Thursday morning, and his bond was set at $250,000.

Attorney General Jim Hood announced, Doyce Nevada Walley, 43, owed $26,000 in child support.

Four caregivers sentenced for starting nursing home fight

Four Brookhaven women have been sentenced on charges of conspiracy to commit abuse of a vulnerable person.

The four women, who were certified nurse’s assistants at the Lincoln Residential Center in Brookhaven, devised a plan to have one resident at the facility fight another as discipline, according to Attorney General Jim Hood.

Tierra Allen, Kista Crockett, Abranese Johnson and Monique Brown pleaded guilty to the charges.

Allen, Crockett and Johnson were sentenced to one year and one day to serve behind bars and four years post-release supervision.
