The annual Lincoln County Wildlife Expo is this weekend, Sept. 14 and 15, at the Lincoln Civic Center.

The Lincoln Civic Center is located at 1096 Beltline Drive NW in Brookhaven.

The Expo hours are:

Friday, Sept. 14 - 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 15 - 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Admission Fees:

Adults (13 and up) $5
Children (7-12) $3
Children (6 and under): Free

Sales tax holiday starts Friday

Mississippi's annual sales tax holiday starts Friday at 12:01 a.m. and will last 48 hours until midnight on Saturday, July 28.

During the event, the sales tax is waived on specific items, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.

Lincoln County ranked 30th in state for unemployment

LINCOLN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Lincoln County ranked 30 in the state for the lowest unemployment rate of the 82 counties in Mississippi in August.

Lincoln County's unemployment rate in August was 10.6 percent -- down from 11.8 percent in July, but up from 10.1 percent in August 2010, according to data released Wednesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

Free class on using Facebook for business

Copiah-Lincoln Community College Workforce Education is offering two free classes on using Facebook to connect with customers.

The title of the class is "Facebook: Affordably Connecting with Customers." The classes will be held Aug. 30, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Sept. 27, from 9 a..m. to noon, at the Thames Conference Center on the Wesson Campus of Co-Lin college.

The class is designed for individuals who are interested in promoting their organization or business and have a general idea of how Facebook operates.
